So, for the past few weeks I’ve been working through PowerSheets by Lara Casey and the Cultivate What Matters’ team. You know, it’s funny, I’ve had these power sheets sitting on my shelf unused since late 2015 (YIKES).
You see, I bought them while I was running my photography business and intended for them to be used for that. Only, I didn’t know at the time that my restlessness with the business wasn’t because of my lack of goals, but because the Lord was actually prompting me to prune it COMPLETELY. Slowly, I forgot about them. I also forgot about the fact that I can still set goals for my personal life (not only business)! I’m such a dork sometimes. Like this is some pivotal amazing revelation, I CAN SET CULTIVATED GOALS FOR MY PERSONAL LIFE!! (insert laughing till I cry emoji).
I’m a goals-oriented person, bus you know, somehow I lost a lot of that when we hit 3 kids (anyone relate!?)… there’s just something about being completely outnumbered and just surviving that took over.
Well, I purposed to pull them off of the the dust-ridden shelf and get through them! Of course I wanted them ready to go before Jan 1st but since dealing with my illness several years ago (and the 2+ year-long pursuit of JOY in Christ alone in the aftermath), I’ve learned to extend grace to myself for all things like this. Lara (the creator of PowerSheets) uses the phrase “progress over perfection” and I’ve adopted that!
While I am currently using an older set of PowerSheets and they change a bit from year to year, I remind myself that “progress over perfection” is the key! I’ve been amazed at the treasures I’ve been able to uncover just by committing to the process and slowly but surely working through each sheet! The Lord has been revealing some beautiful things to me through this process and I have no doubt that he’ll use this tool to encourage me! I’ve been working through them along with the Setting Goals series that Lara has on her blog. What I LOVE is that she was genius enough to record the audio version of the blog post on Sound Cloud! As much as I would love to sit and read through all of the wonderful blog posts out there, I just don’t have time. Her recording of the 5 part series on SoundCloud allowed me to listen to it at my convince (then I made notes in my phone as things popped into my head).
